Born and raised in Houston, Texas, Emily Guevara is the clinic director and acupuncturist for our Plano location. A graduate of the prestigious Academy of Oriental Medicine in Austin, Emily has a Masters degree in Oriental Medicine and Acupuncture. During her four years of acupuncture school she was fortunate to study directly under Kirsten Karchmer, where her true passion and understanding for this field of study started to bloom. She quickly gained expertise in several fields of Chinese medicine, including reproductive acupuncture with a special interest in ovulation disorders. In addition, Emily studied Asian bodywork therapy for three years under the accomplished Dr. Yongxin Fan while earning her acupuncture certification.
While in school, Emily developed a passion and skill for providing treatment to underserved and low-income communities throughout six rewarding months at the People’s Community Clinic and Seton Northwest Community Clinic in Austin. She has since been invited to speak at events for RESOLVE and is currently working towards a certification in Applied Clinical Nutrition. Emily strongly believes many of our existing hormonal dysfunctions stem from a nutritional insufficiency and continues her education and research to better benefit her patients.
For over two years Emily has worked closely and fervently with her well deserving and appreciative patients at TCRA. A valuable element to our family of acupuncturists, she brings with her a blend of traditional and innovative styles of acupuncture. Emily is not only a highly qualified acupuncturist, but also a knowledgeable and passionate individual who brings unique experience to our clinic.
